VCT 2022 EMEA Last Chance Qualifier – Who will make it through?

Eight EMEA teams with the highest Circuit Score are gearing up for one of the most important tournaments of the 2022 season. The VCT 2022 EMEA Last Chance Qualifier is just days away. Participants will compete fiercely for the last ticket to a place in VALORANT Champions 2022. Starting on August 7th, there are 4 teams that stand out in the event.

Out of the eight, four teams have a solid shot at making it through. All four can easily be Europe’s second representative, and it’s really tough to select an outright favorite.

Let’s go through each and every one of them.

Team Liquid needs a solid fifth player

Liquid, who parted ways with longtime coach Sliggy, and then L1NK before the start of Stage 2, will face the real test of their new structure at the VCT 2022 EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. After both the coach and IGL changes, they had shown good performances at times in Stage 2. However, they struggled to make their new system work in the playoffs and were eliminated.

At the time of writing, Team Liquid has yet to announce the fifth member of their roster. If their preferred player can boost the team’s firepower by a few levels, it’s quite possible that the team will be able to punch their ticket to VALORANT Champions 2022. The cohesion and skill level of the main skeleton is quite good. Besides that, ScreaM’s scoring contribution while leading his friends will also be decisive.

Guild Esports

After being eliminated from the VCT 2022 Masters Copenhagen in the 1st round of the playoffs, Guild Esports’ Champions 2022 dreams are left to the LCQ. On paper, they seem to be the only team with the most established game plan, clear strengths and weaknesses to compete in this tournament.

In addition, they did not neglect to make a roster change coming into the tournament. Instead of Russ, who failed to perform as expected both in the season and in the last tournament, they added Yacine, a former player of the team who had a good period in Team Finest lastly. This change could diversify Guild’s strategies, which could make it difficult for other teams to prepare anti-strats against them.

All factors considered, Guild is one of the favorites in the tournament.

Acend

The question marks over Acend are still lingering. After winning the VALORANT Champions 2021, they had an unexpectedly bad start to the 2022 season. They didn’t even qualify for Playoffs in Stage 1 and roster changes followed soon after. While these changes had a positive impact on the results in Stage 2, the gameplay was not entirely convincing. cNed’s poor performance, the team’s lack of cohesion and other factors led to their elimination in the early stage of the playoffs and their failure to make it to Masters Copenhagen.

Finally, veteran L1NK joined the roster. The 23-year-old has played a lot of important qualifying events on the VALORANT stage. His composure, game vision and ability to make important plays in crucial moments were the things Acend needed. If Acend’s other players can improve their individual performances, they have a good chance of winning the tournament.

M3 Champions

M3 Champions is among the teams that once saw the top, then stumbled and never recovered. In 2021, they were among the top 3 teams in the world in terms of power. However, they seem to have lost their identity with the new season. The Gambit roster fiascos are definitely taking a toll, as their style of play is no longer uncounterable to other teams and they are also not at their old level of individual performance.

nAts’ recovery has allowed them to show glimpses of their old self at times in Stage 2, but other parts of the roster were still lacking. In particular, d3ffo’s lackluster performance as a duelist has made things difficult for M3 Champions in general. If they can recover before this tournament, they still have a chance for VALORANT Champions 2022.

VCT 2022 EMEA Last Chance Qualifier will take place between 7-14 August.
