LoL Worlds 2022 Tickets

The 2020 League of Legends World Championship is well underway, with eight teams preparing for the Knockout Stage of the event. Due to the recent lockdowns and an abundance of caution, the Virtual Fan Experience for Worlds 2020 was the only way for spectators to get fully immersed with the tournament.

At the beginning of this year, Worlds 2020 and the 10th anniversary event were envisioned as a massive spectator spectacle with a traveling roadshow packed with massive events all across China. LoL Worlds tickets prizes were expected to reach insane prices in resale. As time went on, everybody settled on the idea that Worlds 2020 even happening was huge win for competitive League of Legends.

Now, two weeks ahead of the Worlds 2020 Finals, Riot Games and the LPL have brought good news for a select group of very lucky individuals. The Worlds Finals will be played in front of a live audience of 6000 people.

League of Legends Worlds 2020 Tickets

In a surprise turn of events, local authorities in Shanghai have allowed Riot Games to host the finals in front of a live audience. Given that the decision came as late as 1 month before the Finals took place, Riot Games had to think quick on how to approach the dissemination of tickets.

At this stage, there is no way to obtain Worlds 2020 tickets unless you win them through a lottery. If you are one of the lucky winners, you are not allowed to trade or re-sell your LoL Worlds tickets. Furthermore, you only have a limited amount of time to even attempt obtaining your tickets, so lets dive right into it.

Getting your LoL Worlds tickets

First up, this information is likely only useful to expats and foreigners currently in mainland China or nearby. To be eligible for LoL Worlds tickets you need to be prepared to confirm your identity several times and own a LVL 30 account on the Chinese LoL server.  You will also need to have a phone number registered in China.

The first three criteria are likely making most of the world ineligible for this lottery. Luckily, yours truly covers all three criteria from his time in China and can guide you through the process. I have also joined the raffle myself.

First up, summoners can register in the lottery between October 12 to October 14 23:59:59 (extended through 16th) via the official LPL site or the League APP or WeChat official account.

Since you already have a LVL30 account this would naturally mean you have a QQ account and a QQ number. You will need to have logged in to your Chinese LoL account at least once in the previous month. Your QQ account will also serve as Real ID confirmation in case you are selected. The qualification is only for yourself, and can not be transferred to others or sold.

In order to ensure the fairness and openness of lottery process, the Shanghai Jing’an Notary Public Office will oversee the entire lottery process. On the 16th of October qualified summoners will need to enter the app through their verified mobile 24 hours after receiving the SMS notice (before 12:00 on October 17) to complete the qualification verification and confirmation. After confirming you can select the seat in the list of available seats and pay an attendance deposit. The deposit will be returned in full after the finals.

The summoners who fail to complete the above operations within the specified time will be disqualified, and their tickets will be passed to the next eligible person.

Watching the Worlds 2020 Finals Live

If you were one of the lucky 6312, all you need to do is make your way to the Shanghai Pudong Stadium (No. 1288 Jinxiang Road, Pudong New Area) and enter the arena. You will have to confirm your identity by a face recognition test and meeting the health requirements. Have your passport handy.

Do keep note that face masks are required to be worn throughout the event.

Finally, keep note that due to the current epidemic prevention requirements, 14 days of quarantine are required after entering China. If you lucky enough to get your ticket on the 16th and are able to travel to China, you will need to pack and leave immediately in order to pass the mandatory quarantine and make the finals.

Every else will have to settle with the Virtual Fan Experience for Worlds 2020. After all, there are still plenty of Drops to be earned and missions to be completed.

The Worlds 2020 Knockout Stage is set to begin tomorrow with an all-Korean match up between DAMWON Gaming and DRX. Odds and betting advice available here.
