Overwatch Loot Boxes Going Away on August 30th

It has been a long since gamers could feel a sense of victory, and today, it is one of those days. While Blizzard revealed that they would be removing loot boxes from Overwatch once Overwatch 2 launched quite some time ago, the good news is surprisingly coming earlier than expected, as loot boxes will be leaving the Overwatch Store on August 30th.

But how will players unlock content until Overwatch 2?

Those still playing the game and grinding Overwatch ranks are probably familiar that the Anniversary Remix event is happening, where players will be able to spend their currency and earn or buy cosmetics before Overwatch 2 is released on October 4th . However, after the event, the boxes will be removed from the store, and players will only earn boxes through standard methods like leveling their account or playing arcade.

Upon Overwatch 2 being released, Blizzard will implement the Battle Pass system, which seems a bit fairer when it comes to unlocking content in the game unless they make it extremely time-consuming. Of course, there are also going to be skins that players will be able to purchase directly, including the new Mythic skins.

Play Overwatch 2 Early!

If you do not want to bother grinding anything in the original Overwatch and you are wondering how to play Overwatch 2, all you have to do is purchase the Watchpoint Pack and get instant access to the closed beta. When it comes to the grand question “Is Overwatch dying?” even if the game is announced to be free-to-play on release, you will be able to find a lot of players on the closed beta servers, making the game very much alive.
