Starcraft World Team League 2022 – Summer Regular Season

While watching major Starcraft 2 tournaments is quite a blast as they cover the most intense matches that the game can offer, the regular season is often full of surprises and interesting comeback stories. The Starcraft World Team League 2022 Summer Regular Season began on May 2nd, and it will last until August 7th.

StarCraft 2 Tournament

What is the format?

For those who are unfamiliar with the format of a regular season, it features 12 teams that have players from all over the world. The group stage uses the Proleague Format, 3 sets of Bo2 are played, and a Bo1 ace match if needed. For wins, the point distribution is as follows:

  • 3 points for a regular win.
  • 2 for ace win.
  • 1 for loss on ace match.

Playoffs, which come once the group stage is finished, will feature the top 7 teams, and it will use the King of the Hill Bracket. One thing that differs from the group stage is that Playoffs use the WTL Format, which is a special All-Kill Format, and each team gets to ban a map.

The prize pool for this tournament is ¥300,000 CNY, which is about $44,668 USD and it is split like this:

  • 1st ¥80,000 (~$11,911.51)
  • 2nd ¥60,000 (~$8,933.63)
  • 3rd ¥40,000 (~$5,955.75)
  • 4th ¥30,000 (~$4,466.81)
  • 5th ¥20,000 (~$2,977.88)
