Warzone 2 Leak Suggests November Release Date, Map Details Revealed

While we know Warzone 2 is on the way, Activision has released very little in the way of information on the game. Now, in a suspected leak, Warzone 2’s launch date has been revealed, suggesting that the follow-up to 2020’s battle royale extravaganza will drop on November 16th. This means it would launch around two weeks after the full, global release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, giving players a little time to get to grips with the updated, enhanced engine.

There’s a staggered launch schedule for Modern Warfare II, which includes a tiered beta phase, an early-access period for the campaign, and then finally, the full release. Once Modern Warfare II has dropped, Warzone 2 will allegedly follow – if the leaked document is to be believed, of course.

Will Warzone 2 Save The Franchise?

For a while, fans of the Call of Duty franchise have been expressing their disappointment with Call of Duty: Warzone. There’s no big secret that the platform has been under intense strain since the launch of Caldera, and in 2022, Activision revealed that millions of players had abandoned its services. If Warzone 2 experiences a clean, stable launch, it could be a turning point for the franchise, particularly if both the game and the map are well received.

While the leaked document wasn’t anything special, it was the first time players had heard even a whisper regarding the launch date of Warzone 2. This document also contained information on Modern Warfare II, also known as ‘Cortez’, and an impending announcement for a reveal of Diablo 4.

There are high expectations for both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2. Should both of these games deliver, they could ultimately save Call of Duty from dying. Once Modern Warfare II has launched, the world won’t see another Call of Duty title until 2024, meaning players will need to either like or lump the game for a two-year period.

What Do We Know About Warzone 2?

If the document proves to be true, Warzone 2 will launch globally on November 16th. Recently, a list of ‘POIs’ was released by Tom Henderson, a well-known and prominent Call of Duty leaker. These Points of Interest essentially provide us with a rough outline of the map for Warzone 2. Here’s the list:

  • Oasis
  • War Torn
  • Modern City
  • Oil Field
  • Hydro Station
  • Caves
  • Quarry
  • Marshes
  • Mountain Town
  • Observatory
  • Old Town
  • Airport
  • Fish Town
  • Sira
  • Harbor
  • Fort
  • Shipwreck
  • Graveyard

Both Verdansk and Caldera were relatively basic maps, boasting very little in the way of diversity. For the most part, it seems as though the Warzone 2 map will be similar in style, but just from the POIs, we get the feeling that the map will be somewhat bigger than both Verdansk and Caldera.

For the full breakdown of Warzone 2, including what should be the first trailer for the game, fans will need to wait for Call of Duty: NEXT. This event will be held on the 15th of September, and it’ll be a showcase for the entire end-to-end offering of Call of Duty. Once that show has wrapped, we’ll know so much more about Warzone 2.
