WoW Classic – Wrath of the Lich King Arrives on September 26th

Blizzard has been doing quite a lot of good lately, and while we all knew that the Wrath of the Lich King expansion was in classic form, we never really knew when. However, recently, Blizzard accidentally leaked the release date for September 26th for a few hours, and even if they took it town, just a few days later, they posted a full reveal for the expansion and confirmed that release date in the leak.

When is the pre-patch?

Everyone who played in 2008 remembers how amazing the pre-patch for Wrath of the Lich King was. Not only because of the fantastic achievement system that was added to the game, where you could already see some people flying in Shattrath City on Albino Drakes, but also because of the ways you could go around Azeroth and defend it from the scourge invasion while getting some neat rewards.

While the pre-patch date is not yet known, it should come within a couple of weeks, considering that the expansion is only two months away. Along with the pre-patch, we will not be getting the event only but also a set of WotLK fresh realms where everyone will start from level one.

Even if WoW is one of the best MMORPG games, some people do not feel like leveling their character for who knows what time on the WoW Classic servers. If you happen to be in this group of people, there is some great news for you, as there is going to be a flat 50% experience gained buff called Joyous Journeys on EU, NA, and OCE realms.

What is new in the expansion?

For those who are unfamiliar with Wrath of the Lich King, there are all kinds of new goodies coming with the expansion. Just like the previous two classic experiences, we are going to have five phases of content:

  • The first one is going to bring us Naxxramas, The Obsidian Sanctum, and The Eye of Eternity.
  • Phase two will bring us one of the best dungeons in World of Warcraft – Ulduar.
  • Phase three will bring us the not so loved Trial of the Crusader and Onyxia’s Lair.
  • Phase four will let us bring down the big bad of the expansion and probably one of the coolest villains in video games, the Lich King, in Icecrown Citadel.
  • Phase five might be considered a bit underwhelming by many WotLK veterans. But The Ruby Sanctum has an interesting fight that brings some of the best gear in the expansion for certain classes.

Other than that, there are going to be new zones and a new profession called Inscription, which works a lot different from the modern WoW version. In WotLK, instead of focusing mostly on cosmetic changes only, Inscription allows players to power up some of their abilities either in flat numbers or with additional effects.

How will Death Knights work in WotLK classic?

We are happy to share that Blizzard has stated the Death Knight situation for the classic version of WoW’s most popular expansion. Back in the day, players were required to have a level 55 character in order to create a Death Knight, but in the classic version of the game, players will immediately be able to create a Death Knight without any requirements.

Of course, there is still the limit of having one Death Knight per realm, and while the first one has no requirements, if you wish to create a second Death Knight on another realm, you will be required to have a level 55 character.

This change will certainly spice things up for the betting on WoW, as players will have a much easier time getting to level 80 on the fresh servers. Of course, this will only be a thing if the betting community decides to bet on such a thing, but considering all the hype that Wrath of the Lich King Classic has been getting, it seems quite inevitable for it to happen.
