PMWI 2022: Vampire Esports wins main event, Afterparty Showdown next

The PMWI 2022 is happening in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the Gamers8 festival. Teams from around the world have travelled to the Middle Eastern country to compete from the esports arena at the Boulevard Riyadh City.

After an intense three days of action, Vampire Esports have been crowned the champions of the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) Main Tournament 2022. Thailand’s Vampire Esports were dominant throughout the competition. While they faced stiff competition from the home team, Falcons, they were able to triumph at the end.

There was an intense fight at the top of the table for the trophy as Vampire Esports, Team Falcon, and Stalwart all being in contention until the very last game.  Ahead of the last game in Erangel, Vampire Esports and Team Falcon were sitting just one point apart in the overall standings. Sitting 20 points behind, South Asia’s Stalwart Esports also had a chance to shoot for the trophy.

The last game, however, proved detrimental for Falcons and Stalwart. Stalwart were eliminated in 15th place with just two kills, while Team Falcons could only manage 12th position.  Vampire Esports, on the other hand, had an amazing game with a third place finish along with 12 kills. This pushed them way ahead at the top of the standings table with 220 points.

For Team Falcons, who were the home representatives, the loss will come as a huge disappointment. They have had an amazing season so far with a first place in the Pro League Arabia Fall Season and a third place in the spring. The team came so close but couldn’t push through in the end. 

PMWI 2022: Overall Standings and Prize Pool Distribution

For Vampire Esports, this a big confirmation of for a hard fought tournament and season.

The PMWI 2022 Main Tournament had a prize pool of $2 million. Here’s how the bulk of it has been distributed between the top five teams. 

1. Vampire Esports: 220 points ($525,000)
2. Team Falcons: 197 points ($325,000)
3. Stalwart Esports: 180 points ($185,000)
4. Nigma Galaxy: 159 points ($125,000)
5. Damwon Gaming : 154 points ($100,000)

What’s next in the PMWI 2022? 

With the main tournament wrapping up, all eyes will now shift to the PMWI 2022 Afterparty Showdown, which is scheduled from Aug. 18 to 20 at the same venue. A further $1 million will be on the line here.  Additionally, the top five teams from the Main Tournament have also qualified for the Afterparty.
