Check out the 16 finalists heading to Madrid in FIFA’s eLaLiga Santander

eLaLiga Santander, one of the most important organizations in the FIFA esports scene, found its finalists after competitions played on April 19. The regular season, which started on February 1, ended after approximately 2.5 months.

Atlético de Madrid (AndoniiPM, Espo) and SD Huesca (Chousita, Angelito) topped their respective groups by slim margins.

eLaLiga Santander is a FIFA 22 league where teams based in Spain compete. Many teams that are currently competing in La Liga are also pursuing success in this league with their esports teams. 38 teams, including Atlético de Madrid, Málaga CF and Valencia CF, take part this year.

Group Stage of eLaLiga Santander has ended - Here's the Finalists

eLaLiga Santander League Phase Results

The league phase started with  2 different groups that featured 19 teams, 38 in total. Round Robin format was applied in the group stage and each team faced their opponents in their own group 2 times. The challengers played matches in 1v1 mode and online on PlayStation 5. The 16 teams that finished in the top eight of their groups qualified for the grand finals.

Group B

  6. RC Celta
  7. SD Amorebieta
  8. Real Betis

Atlético de Madrid’s AndoniiPM led his team to victory with a magnificent performance. The player, who managed to win 14 out of the 18 games he played, completed the regular season with only 2 draws and 2 losses. Besides that, he scored 71 goals and conceded only 31 goals. Espi, another player of the team, did not take time in any match.

On the other hand, the situation was slightly different in SD Huesca which was the winner of Group B. The main player of the team Chousita won 10 of 16 games, drew in four and lost in two games. His teammate Angelito lost both of his matches. Huesca finished the season scoring 61 goals and conceding 39 goals in total.

The eLaLiga Santander Grand Finals will be played from 7 to 8 May. The prize pool of the event was announced as €250,000.
